UPC takes four gongs at Switcher Broadband Awards
UPC was the big winner at the second Switcher Broadband Awards held at the Marker Hotel, Dublin last night. The telco took away four of the 10 awards up for grabs and retained the title of best broadband provider.
Sky fared almost as well, taking home three awards including best TV service.
Vodafone took two awards in the best customer benefit and best value home broadband categories. The broadband innovation award was taken again by eircom for its fibre network investment, 4G broadband rollout and quad-play service.
The winners were decided on by a combination of independent speed tests, ratings from 30,000 customers nationwide and a judging panel of experts.
Speaking at the Awards Eoin Clarke, managing director of Switcher, said: “The Switcher Broadband Awards recognise the companies that provide our customers with the best products and services in the industry. By highlighting the best broadband providers and products, we hope to equip broadband users with an important, independent classification that can only help when selecting the right broadband package for their needs.
“This is a market with plenty of room for innovation and improvement. By June of this year eircom will have invested €1 billion in infrastructure over a three year period – that equates to almost €1.5 million every working day. The scale of this investment is huge for a private sector company.”
