In the last issue of ComputerScope, in association with Accenture, the feature on digital business showed that nearly 70% of Irish organisations regard going digital – leveraging such technologies as social media, mobility, data analytics and cloud computing – is priority.

Funding was the top challenge for Irish organisations in going digital, but almost half said that they have the in-house skills to execute their digital strategy. Nearly two thirds said that ROI is not only a key driver but a challenge in making a compelling business case for going digital, but more than three quarters confirmed that attitudes and priorities around digital had changed recently.

IT professionals said that the areas of technology being explored in digital business strategies included cloud computing (31%) and mobility (26%) technologies as the most likely to present the greatest opportunities, followed closely by data analytics (25%). Social media was lower down the list at 14% and bring your own device (BYOD) was further back still at just 4%.
