There are extensive variations in salary for the same jobs within the Euro zone, according to recent research from Irishjobs.ie.
Looking at vacancies posted to recruitment Websites throughout the Euro zone, the research examined five different professional positions. The highest salaries across all categories were in Luxembourg; the lowest salary scale for the same jobs was in Portugal. Ireland ranks fifth in terms of offering the highest salaries out of the 12 Euro zone countries.
Maria Mahon, CEO of Irishjobs.ie said that the survey highlights Ireland’s competitiveness within the Euro zone countries. ‘As the national currencies for all Euro zone countries are removed from circulation, it will be interesting to see how salary scales develop over the coming months. Transparency usually leads to greater harmonisation but with salaries there will always be differences due to socio-economic factors.’
