UPC Business has switched on a Fibre Node to provide uninterrupted bandwidth services in NUI Galway’s Corrib Village campus accommodation.
The development provides students with 50Mb/s download speeds while the administration offices at Corrib Village will have speeds of 250Mb/s and multiple telephone lines.
Corrib Village is the first student village in the country to be provided with a Fibre Node offering a dedicated broadband connection.
In addition to the enhancement of broadband speeds, UPC Business will deliver triple-play services to the campus with over 175 individual digital TV outlet points and multiple phone lines, including free line rental.
Karl Reinhardt, general manager, Corrib Village, National University of Ireland, Galway, said: “We’re constantly enhancing campus life for students and our summer residents. The availability of high-speed broadband ranks continuously as one of the most important needs in services provided. Whether for educational or recreational purposes, the introduction of a dedicated fibre node will be a significant benefit to residents, as well as our own staff.”
