Analytics company Legalshine has taken top prize of €30,000 in follow-on investment at the ninth NDRC Lift Off competition.

The award was specially presented to Legalshine founder and CEO Ian Nolan by Ireland rugby international Jamie Heaslip.

Lift Off marks the emergence of nine new digital businesses into the Irish economy. The start-ups have just completed the intensive three-month NDRC LaunchPad programme with each receiving up to €20,000 in pre-seed investment.

Legalshine has developed a tool for large organisations to control their legal costs. It takes data from legal bills around the organisation, understands the text, and uses benchmarking and analytics to eliminate waste. Governments, banks, insurance companies and multinationals are the target market and Legalshine has already won new business.

Following a 15-week accelerator programme, each of the start-ups had five minutes to pitch to an audience of investors, mentors and a judging panel which included Conor Stanley (Tribal VC), William McQuillan (Frontline Ventures), David Bowles (Delta Partners) and Ben Hurley (NDRC).

NDRC LaunchPad director Gary Leyden said: “We’re focused on the identification, mentoring and promotion of investor-ready, high impact ventures with strong market potential. Legalshine is a fantastic example of the innovative digital start-ups emerging from NDRC and we’re confident that they will go on to achieve significant future success.”
