iPhone 4S sets US preorder record
The iPhone 4S may not have wowed critics but no one seems to have told the market as the handset broke one-day records, clocking in 1 million preorders in 24 hours in the US alone.
The fifth version of Apple’s iconic handset goes on sale this Friday in stores across America, pre-orders will ship on the same day.
The iPhone 4S has been criticised for being a conservative improvement on the iPhone 4, retaining the same form factor while making improvements under the hood, like the A5 processor. Exclusive to the 4S is Siri, a personal assistant application that speaks to the user.
Anyone not interested in making the upgrade just yet can settle for iOS 5, being released around the world this Wednesday. New feature to the mobile operating system include an improved camera with integrated picture editor and a native application for the new iCloud service for storing personal data and streaming media remotely.
