Hidden Hearing has unveiled Oticon Opn, an Internet-connected hearing aid.

As well as functioning as a regular hearing aid, the device triggers automated audio messages to the wearer, such as when a doorbell is ringing.

Other examples of ‘recipes’ which the device can be set to carry out could be sending a text to a caregiver when the battery level of the hearing aid is low, and automatically turning on the lights when the device is in use.

“This product is really remarkable. It goes so much further than a standard hearing aid by giving users the ability to hear various sounds coming from different directions, not just those speaking directly to them,” said Peter Sydserff, audiologist and product manager for Hidden Hearing.

“It processes sound 50 times faster than other devices and it has the added benefit of being able to use the Internet to connect and speak to other devices, like phones and apps. It can also hook up to other Internet-connected devices such as doorbells, smoke detectors and baby alarms, highlighting important alerts to the user.

“This would just have been unimaginable at one point. Now, it’s a reality and our customers are really impressed by this excellent device and the world of possibilities it offers.

Oticon Opn is avalailable throughout Hidden Hearing’s network of more than 75 clinics.
