Ergo has announced the opening of an office in Auckland, New Zealand, its first in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Supported by Enterprise Ireland, the new site is part of an international growth strategy, which the company hopes will result in half its business being generated outside Ireland by 2025.

This latest development comes after Ergo’s recent announcement that it became the first company in Ireland to implement the ServiceNow managed service provider platform as part of a €3 million investment.

This expansion into the APAC region will also see the company scale its out of hours capability with teams based in Ireland, the UK, the US, Romania, Colombia and now New Zealand.

The Auckland office will have an initial headcount of seven, some of whom have relocated from Ireland to help establish Ergo’s presence in the region.

Paul McCann, chief executive officer, Ergo, said: “This latest move represents another significant milestone for the company and is evidence of our ambitious international growth strategy. Building on our 30-year heritage in Ireland, we continue to expand our global footprint at pace, and bolster our position as a leading partner for CIOs and their teams. Beyond New Zealand, and the APAC region we also have ambitious plans to continue to drive market share in the US, with plans to also expand the UK including Northern Ireland as well as strengthening our senior team here in Ireland.

“We are truly invested in helping organisations, irrespective of their business challenge or need, be prepared for today while planning for tomorrow, especially as businesses continue to embrace disruption, navigate broader macro issues, and explore new and emerging technology such as generative AI.”

Trevor Mallard, ambassador for New Zealand in Ireland, said: “As two island nations with similar population sizes, the cultural and economic ties between Ireland and New Zealand are extremely strong. New Zealand provides Irish companies with a complimentary time zone and good access to markets across the Asia Pacific region.  Here at the New Zealand Embassy in Ireland, we’re highly encouraged to see Irish companies such as Ergo look to New Zealand when expanding into new markets.”
