Eircom Business is scrapping roaming charges for business customers travelling within the EU and the US from 1 January 2014.

Existing customers will be automatically upgraded to avail of the free roaming, and new customers can also benefit. Eircom estimates that 90% of its roaming activity from SME customers takes place in the EU and USA.

Last September the European Commission announced an end to roaming charges within the EU from July 2014.

David Walsh, SME director, eircom Business, said: “Earlier this year, we introduced free roaming calls while in the UK for all our SME customers. This has proved to be a very popular move and we are confident that… we are making it even better for SMEs to do business abroad.”
