Deloitte has opened entries for this year’s Top Technology Talent competition. Now in its fifth year, the competition seeks ideas from college students across Ireland on how technology can used to solve specific business problems.

The overall winner will win a trip to one of the Deloitte Digital studios in the US, in addition to a six-week summer internship in Deloitte Ireland.

Shortlisted entries will be invited to Deloitte’s Dublin offices in March to attend an interactive development day that will give candidates the opportunity to receive training and insights from an experienced panel. T

Finalists will then present their idea to a panel of industry experts who will determine the overall winner.

Harry Goddard, partner, technology consulting, Deloitte said: “On a daily basis the consulting team at Deloitte work with clients on how technological advancements can be used to improve their businesses – be it to create efficiencies, develop new service offerings, or how they communicate with customers. This competition encourages students to develop ideas that do just that – how technology can solve a business problem, or create a business opportunity.

“Through the internship and trip to the Deloitte Digital Studio, the winner will get the opportunity to experience how we utilise cutting-edge technology advancements in a very real way to support businesses, or indeed further progress their idea as a business in itself.”

Last year’s winner was UCD student Aaron Byrne whose project, Image Intelligence, allowed companies to identify and track where images of their products or logos have appeared online and on social media channels.

The closing date for entries is 20 March 2015.
