BlackBerry maker Research In Motion has launched BlackBerry App World 1.1, now in a choice of five languages (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish).

Previously available only to customers in the US, Canada and the UK, BlackBerry App World offers a range of free and paid-for applications.

It requires BlackBerry OS 4.2 or higher, plus trackball, trackpad and touch devices.

Users can access BlackBerry App World over both Wi-Fi and cellular networks to browse for and download applications . Paid applications can be bought using the built-in payment process from PayPal.

* Improved search means users can view catalogue by free vs. paid application, with additional categories for top free and paid app downloads

* Users can now sort search results by newest, highest rated, price (lowest or highest), developer (alphabetical) or by application name (alphabetical).

* Users can now archive their apps to SD Card or eMMC and reinstall these when needed

For new users, customers should go to Mobile.BlackBerry.com or BlackBerry.com/AppWorld and download App World 1.1. Current users will be prompted to download version 1.1 via a red star on the App World icon.
