Apple unveiled the seventh generation of its iPad mini featuring Cupertino’s A17 Pro chip. The position of the mini had been up for debate as Cupertino had not updated the device since 2021. This new release comes with the added bonus of Apple Intelligence compatibility, which might explain the delay.

The new iPad mini comes in four colours, including blue and purple, and an 8.3″ Liquid Retina display.

Furthermore, the new iPad mini is compatible with Apple Pencil Pro, which Apple said gives you all kinds of new ways to be even more creative and productive. The 12-MP wide-angle camera on the back is Smart HDR 4 compatible, allowing you to take natural-looking photos with a wider dynamic range. This camera can also use machine learning to detect and scan documents, just in the Camera app.

With an entry-level price of 609 for the model with 128 GB of storage – double that of the previous generation – iPad mini has “great value for money,” according to Apple.

The new iPad mini is available starting at $619 (Wi-Fi only) and €789 (Wi-Fi & Cellular model) in blue, purple, starlight and space gray.
