Fujitsu’s vShape is a set of reference architectures for converged infrastructure virtualisation solutions aimed at organisations with high virtualisation requirements.

The new solutions combine storage, server, network and virtualisation software for ‘out-of-the-box’ functionality with a claimed cost saving of 30% when compared with traditional hardware.

Fujitsu said that it was responding to “the increased demand for server and desktop virtualisation” by offering a “secure, flexible and scalable solution” for companies with high data storage requirements such as architects, solicitors and medical companies.

The solutions also cater for desktop virtualisation that provides secure access enabling employees to work remotely and could reduce energy consumption by up to 80%, said Fujitsu.

vShape solutions have been validated in reference architectures with software from the industry’s leading vendors, said Fujitsu. These complete, workload-optimised solutions are ready to run and enable enterprises to speed up their IT projects considerably, and makes environment consolidation and migration to the cloud much easier.

New services can be made available within minutes. By way of example, Fujitsu said that the “deployment of collaboration software and virtual desktop infrastructures can improve mobile workforces and cooperation throughout an enterprise in virtual teams”.

vShape is based on a modular concept that is easily adapted to meet differing requirements. Built-in flexibility allows industry- and application-agnostic deployment. The PRIMERGY rack servers, ETERNUS DX storage systems and Brocade switches, on which the systems are based, offer high levels of flexibility. Performance and capacity can be quickly scaled to satisfy specific customer requirements at low cost.

“As companies look to make the transition to virtualisation and cloud,” said Kenneth Keogh, director, Business Development, Fujitsu Ireland, “they are searching for solutions that are easy to deploy, simple to configure and can scale with their needs over time. vShape offers a stress-free solution straight out-of-the-box, significantly reducing the cost of design and time to deployment so organisations can spend less time on IT and focus instead on their core business.

“vShape also gives piece of mind,” added Keogh, “by bringing best in class vendors such as NetApp, VMware, Microsoft, Symantec, Fujitsu and Brocade together in one package supported by a single maintenance contract provided by Fujitsu.”

“Fujitsu prides,” said David Delaney, head of Innovation, Fujitsu Ireland, “itself on cost-efficient, customer-focused solutions that offer flexibility while enhancing IT performance. vShape offers improved availability, flexibility, security and efficiency and an affordable first step for customers looking to start their journey towards Private Cloud.”
