‘Amazon Prime Day 2024 biggest ever’
Amazon Prime Day 2024 was the biggest ever, Amazon says, with record sales during the two-day shopping event on Tuesday and Wednesday.
As usual, Amazon does not share sales figures, but millions more Prime members reportedly shopped this year compared to Prime Day 2023.
Amazon’s Prime Day event generated record US sales of $14.2 billion this year, according to Adobe Analytics. This marks an 11% jump from last year’s total of $12.7 billion.
Buyers spent $7.2 billion on the first day, up 11.2% from a year earlier. On the second day, sales rose 10.4% to $7 billion.
Due to the fact that Prime Day was held in every country where Amazon has a presence, the total amount must be many times higher.
Prime Day had less competition this summer than previous years.
More US retailers opted for high discounts around the 4th of July holiday.
The first day of Prime Day was also the largest mobile shopping day of 2024 so far, with $3.5 billion in spending and a 49.3 % share compared to desktop.
Amazon offered discounts on Amazon devices, subscriptions for Amazon Music Unlimited, Kindle Unlimited, Audible and Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market grocery delivery.
More than 300 million items available with free Prime shipping and tens of millions of the most popular items were delivered within a day.
