The Italian maker of inspection systems, track and trace, and smart data management solutions, Antares Vision, is to establish a software development centre in Galway.

The IDA supported project will create 53 jobs over the next five years, with development in areas of computer vision and artificial intelligence.

The new centre will have a strategic focus on developing new software tools to enhance capability in Antares Vision system by utilising deep learning applied to computer vision.

Antares Vision will establish initially at the Galway Technology Centre at Mervue Business Park (Wellpark Rd), and will have a mix of roles including junior and senior software developers and researchers.

“This step confirms the design of Antares Vision in international growth,” said Emidio Zorzella, CEO, Antares Vision. “Today we are present in a direct way in Italy, Brazil, United States, France, Germany, South Korea and soon in India, furthermore the global coverage involves a network of partners in a capillary way. In Galway, unlike in the past, Antares Vision, opens a centre exclusively dedicated to R&D, a further sign of progressive and solid growth. Antares Vision grows together with its resources, with respect and team spirit; it is the people that are the true value of the company, which is confirmed by a low staff turnover of just 1.6%.”

The Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys TD said the project was exciting for the region

“Antares Vision is creating a centre exclusively dedicated to R&D with over 50 jobs for software developers and researchers over the next five years. I’m confident that you will have no difficulty sourcing the skills you require and I look forward to watching you grow in the coming years,” said Minister Humphreys.

Martin Shanahan, CEO, IDA Ireland, welcomed the new project.

“The addition of a dedicated Software Development Centre in artificial intelligence techniques will be an excellent reference site, both for the West Region and nationally in a key technology area of focus for IDA and our recently launched AI Island value proposition. The jobs being created will greatly benefit the region also.  I wish the company every success here in Ireland.”
