DataSolutions will host its sixth annual Secure Computing Forum in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Thursday, 20th September 2018. It is one of Ireland’s largest cybersecurity events and more than 400 IT and business professionals are expected to attend.

The sixth annual Secure Computing Forum will provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the main challenges faced by organisations, while offering best-practice advice on how to combat these threats.

The event will attract business owners, heads of IT and Chief Information Security Officers seeking insights into how to protect their interests from cybercrime and manage significant developments such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Those in attendance will have the chance to understand the latest trends from industry leaders and guest speakers as well as receiving helpful tips on how to safely grow their business.

Leading industry experts will provide advice on diverse topics, such as understanding the cyber threat landscape and securing the internet of things (IoT). Keynote presentations will be given by Mikko Hyppönen, a global authority on computer security and privacy issues; Lord Alan West, former UK Minister of Security and a previous holder of the office of First Sea Lord*; and Graeme Cluley, an award-winning security blogger and researcher. Leading IT vendor Check Point also return this year as the host sponsor for the sixth time.

This year’s forum will investigate whether the development of AI presents a silver bullet for cyber-security and look at the ongoing threat posed by ransomware. A recent report carried out by researcher Dr. Mike McGuire found that the cybercrime world generates $1 billion in revenue annually from ransomware , highlighting that ransomware remains a significant threat to business in 2018. Speakers will provide attendees with an overview of the proactive measures that they can take to avoid getting caught out.

In addition, security experts will also explain how to prioritise mobile security and focus on threat prevention, as well as discussing post-breach strategy. Tips will be provided on what companies should do following a breach to minimise the impact on their operations and processes.

Other speakers at this year’s event include award-winning writer, stand-up comedian and BAFTA-shortlisted director Bennett Arron; Daniel Wiley, head of incident response at Check Point Software Technologies; and DataSolutions’ group director of technology and strategy, Francis O’Haire. The 2018 forum will be hosted by David Keating, Datasolutions’ group security sales director.

“The continued rise of cyberattacks against Irish organisations means that cybercrime is now a fact of life for many,” said David Keating. “Companies now need to equip themselves with the knowledge and tools to defend their interests and respond to this threat. DataSolutions’ Secure Computing Forum is a must-attend for Irish companies looking for practical advice on how to defend against increasingly complex cyber-threats.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to network with senior IT and business professionals from a wide range of Irish public and private sector organisations and interact with leading IT vendors and sponsors including Citrix, Edgescan, AMI DiskShred, Nutanix and IGEL.
