Requirements gathering: What could go wrong?
6-7pm
ICS, 87-89 Pembroke Road, Dublin 4
Gathering or eliciting requirements is one of the most crucial parts of a development life cycle – it is the realm of the business analyst. Many companies spend a considerable amount of resources and time on training to get this right. The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) has created the business analysis body of knowledge (BABOK) to map out the best methodologies and techniques for eliciting requirements according to current practices. There is an increased awareness and interest in certification in business analysis since BABOK introduced certification in 2006. Despite this, many requirements are not elicited correctly. This leads to many difficulties later on in the development life cycle.
In this Business Analysts Association of Ireland (BAAI) seminar, Dr Eugene O’Loughlin takes a look at the common mistakes that are made during the Requirements Gathering process, and investigates strategies for avoiding these pitfalls and to do an effective job in business analysis.
